Boom! My new column in Cosmo mag.
Oh hiiii! Yep, it's official. I am the new Contributing Interiors Editor of Cosmopolitan magazine. And my first column (the April issue) is out now.
So, around the same time as I finally made up my mind to start this blog, Cosmo contacted me about a potential opportunity to takeover their Design Doubles column. Anyone who is familiar with it will know this page is a longstanding fixture in the mag but the powers that be thought it could do with a little shake-up. And that's where I came in.
The brief was to make the page a whole lot more trend-led and focused on quality products, regardless of whether it was in the budget or blowout section. The page needed to be aspirational, inspiring and appealing to the Cosmo girl. Basically just full of stuff that makes you go "oooooh". So I did a trial page for them before Christmas and I'm delighted to say they loved it and offered me the job. Merry bloody Christmas to me!
As the first issue was April, but I was writing in December, it was an awkward time where the SS17 trends were just starting to trickle through. So I decided to tap into that whole boho glam vibe but bring it up to date withe the new trend towards all things natural. The end result is a kind of earthy glam Ibiza-inspired boho mash-up.
I think I've got Ibiza on the brain because I'm having to miss out on my friend's 40th birthday party extravaganza on the White Isle in May due to our house renovations sucking up all the funds. Ah well, you can't have it all ways, as my dad likes to remind me.
Just in case you can't get your hands on a copy here are some of the lovely products featured in this month's Cosmo below. Next month is all about Spring Greens.
