Going for gold? 9 of the best gold wallpapers
Without a shadow of a doubt, the item that people ask me about the most when I share pictures of our home on Instagram, is our gold Drip wallpaper from Jonathan Adler. And if I'm being totally honest, every time I tell them where it is from, I feel a little bit embarrassed about the excess of it, and feel compelled to send an overly long reply by way of justifying the purchase. Not that it really needs justifying, because it makes me super happy everyday and that should be justification enough for having something in your home.
But I'll explain it anyway...I fell for the wallpaper during one of my lengthy Pinterest planning sessions when we first bought the house three years ago, and it was love at first sight. I spent ages trying to find a more wallet friendly alternative (I did, I promise) but at that point there wasn't much gold wallpaper around, and what there was wasn't very nice. By the time I had established the lack of viable alternatives, I was heavily pregnant and emotional (irrational) and I couldn't see how our living room would ever be complete unless we had this wallpaper. My husband didn't dare say no to the wild-eyed hormonal woman he had found himself living with (and I think he secretly loves it too) and that's how we came to be the only household in the UK to have the Jonathan Adler gold Drip wallpaper gracing our walls.
But you'll be pleased to know that the huge trend for all things gold and metallic has meant that there are now a number of really good alternatives out there, and I've been threatening to collate them all in a blogpost for a while now. So without further ado, here are nine of the best chic, gold wallpapers.
1. Gold Splat wallpaper - Graham & Brown
Snap! This is from Graham & Brown's collaboration with interior designer Kelly Hoppen. And it's currently £22.99 a roll at House of Fraser. Do me a favour and do NOT show my husband this yeah?
2. Wilderness by Ferm Living
Featuring silhouettes of branches and stems, this is reduced to £50 per roll (from £65) here.
3. Safari Gold by Kiki Slaughter for Feathr
Following on from the huge success of Kiki's distressed Oh La La wallpaper, Feathr have collaborated with the artist again to dramatic effect. This time Kiki has brought in metallic elements and the overall effect is one of artful and elegant decay. £129 per 10m roll here
4. Eglomise Gold by Harlequin
Distressed panels of crackled gold, £64 per roll here
5. Wabi and Cloud, from Calico Wallpaper
This stunner is another big ticket option but one I felt duty bound to share with you because it's just too god damn gorgeous. You can find out more here.
6. Crackle, from Wedgewood
If you're looking for something metallic but subtle, the delicate Crackle from Wedgewood is worth a look here.
7. Channels, from Kelly Wearstler
We are moving away from the splodges and towards more graphic lines now. Kelly Wearstler's wallpapers make a huge statement (but you'd need a huge budget to match) Find out more here.

If the above had you falling head over heels, don't despair because Harlequin's Sumi is strikingly similar and is £68 a roll at Wallpaper Direct.
